Ireland. Dublin, June 5. Yesterday being the anniversary of
his majesty's birth day; the right hon. Nathaniel Clements,
Esq; ranger of the Phoenix Park, entertained several of the
nobility and gentry at the lodge in that park, where the
evening was concluded in the following manner . . . which
with the sereneness of the evening presented a most pleasing
prospect; a concert of French horns, &c. placed in the wood
entertained the company until fireworks began to play; in
which were exhibited variety of Katherine wheels, running
rockets, serpents, &c. divided into four acts, between each
of which the music performed several pieces. . . The whole
concluded with a grand ball, where the company made a most
elegant appearance.
The following ode, composed by Benjamin Victor, Esq; and
set to musick by Dubourg, was performed at the castle, by
order of the lords justices.
  Hibernia, late, in mournful mood,
By the soft murmurings of the flood
Sat pensive: from the sister shore
Swift-darting fame a lovely picture bore!
